A month to Ride – together!

June is a special month where thousands of people in Canada cap their Ride for Heart accomplishments with one more kilometre, one more donation, or a celebration with supporters, friends, and coworkers.

Let’s all grab our bikes and running shoes one more time and do something special for those living with heart disease, stroke, and vascular cognitive impairment.

How do you Ride?

Each June, when Canadians Ride for Heart, they:
  • Bring awareness to the issues facing those with heart disease, stroke, and vascular cognitive impairment.
  • Improve their own heart health and ensure more time with family and friends.
  • Celebrate heart and brain health in the most creative and wonderful ways!

What's happening this Event Month!

Looking for ideas and inspiration for your own Event Month activities? Look no further than your fellow riders! Here are just a few of the event month challenges and celebrations that have been undertaken by people just like you.

JP Fillion

JP was born with pulmonary stenosis, which affects blood flow from the heart to the lungs. After two operations, his condition improved, and JP gives back by participating with @JuniperNetworks in the #RideCorporateChallenge. Last year, JP rode 5,514km, the equivalent distance of crossing Canada, and plans to do the same this year!

Diamond Schmitt

Diamond Schmitt has been passionately supporting Ride for Heart since 2010, and last year, they tried something new with their #RideCorporate Challenge by hosting an “Art x Architects” silent auction!

Doug Olichny

Meet Doug! An avid cyclist and #RideVIP, Doug was experiencing shoulder and upper back pain during rides. A stress test revealed a shocking truth: he had a heart attack. After quadruple bypass surgery, he rode 1,000km in June for his second Ride for Heart!

Paul Appleman

Paul Appleton has participated in Ride for Heart for 12 years, riding daily for 935 days and accumulating 19,050 kilometres on his bike! Paul’s incredible streak broke in April of 2023 when he experienced chest pains while cycling and had to get off and walk. Shortly after, Paul was admitted to the hospital, where he underwent a double bypass surgery. After a 46 day recovery, Paul got back on his bike and continued his over 300 day new riding streak through last June’s Event Month rideing 700 kilometres!

Cindy Dunn

Last year for their Ride for Heart, Cindy and Mark bicycled through the picturesque countryside of France! Throughout their 70 kilometers journey, they captured breathtaking moments, with a memorable end-of-ride photo at the historic Chateau Des Vigiers Hotel. Their passion for cycling and adventure wholeheartedly supports Ride for Heart. Thank you, Cindy and Mark, for sharing this wonderful experience!
